This course will provide you with all necessary operating rules, safety rules and practical training in the field, to work the role of a conductor in the rail industry. Such will be done in a classroom environment with field training in an active rail yard. Throughout the program, we will provide you with the skills to understand dangerous goods and commodities, operate hand switches, couple and uncouple equipment, entraining & detraining from moving and stationery equipment, changing knuckles, air hoses, radio communication with proper railway terminology, railcar inspections, air brake tests, in addition to identifying and understanding signal indication that are used in CTC and interlockings. This will be done all while using applicable railway rules and safe working procedures.

The GIO Railways conductor course will be offered in two parts, the first being Canadian Operating Rules for Non-Main Track, Air Brake and signals, freight car inspection and transportation of dangerous goods. The second part of the course will be methods of control.
